1. Introduction

Voxtra ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our live event Q&A platform. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described herein.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely via hashing). You may optionally provide a display name.

2.2 Event and Question Data

We collect information you provide when creating events (event titles, settings, configurations) and questions submitted by your audience (question text, optional submitter names).

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

We may collect certain information automatically, including IP addresses (used for rate limiting and upvote deduplication), browser type, device information, and usage patterns to improve the Service.

2.4 Widget Data

When audience members interact with Voxtra widgets embedded on third-party websites, we collect the question text, optional name, and the associated event identifier. We do not set tracking cookies through widgets.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Process and display audience questions during live events
  • Authenticate users and manage account sessions
  • Send transactional emails (password recovery, collaboration invitations)
  • Prevent abuse through rate limiting and duplicate detection
  • Improve and optimize the Service based on usage patterns
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With event collaborators: Event admins and moderators can view questions submitted to their events
  • Renderer displays: Approved questions (and optional submitter names) are displayed publicly through renderer overlays
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • Service providers: With third-party providers that help us operate the Service (hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and implement access controls to protect your information. Authentication sessions are managed through encrypted HTTP-only cookies. While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Event data and associated questions are retained until the event organizer deletes them. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@voxtra.app.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain authentication sessions. These are HTTP-only, secure cookies that do not track you across websites. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies. Embedded widgets do not set any cookies on third-party websites.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
